Commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC) is the use of children as a commodity for the purpose of child prostitution, child trafficking, child pornography and child sex tourism. It is a violation of children’s rights that consists of sexual abuse, coercion, violence and forced labour for sexual purposes. The child or a third person or persons receives a transaction in cash or kind for this exploitation.

CSEC is a growing problem around the world and it is estimated that about 10 million children are exploited globally. The child sex trade in Asia, Africa and Latin America has developed into a well organised lucrative industry however, the youth in developed countries are also increasingly facing the risk of exploitation.
